COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been exposed to COVID 19 or diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition on the COVID 19 Notification Form (available via a link on the Student Code of Conduct COVID19 webpage). Course Information
Description A work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized theory, skills and concepts. A learning plan is developed by the college and the employer.
Prerequisites All Semester 1, 2, 3 Design Classes
Learning Outcomes � As outlined in the learning plan, apply the theory, concepts, and skills
involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations,
laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental,
social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/
industry
� Will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior, safety practices, interpersonal
and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal communication skills
using the terminology of the occupation and the business/industry.
Core Objectives Communication skills: Students will demonstrate effective written, oral and visual
communication.
Critical Thinking Skills: Students will engage in creative and/or innovative
thinking, and/or inquiry, analysis, evaluation, synthesis of information, organizing
concepts and constructing solutions.
Social Responsibility: Students will demonstrate inter-cultural competency and
civic knowledge by engaging effectively in local, regional, national and/or global
communities.
Teamwork: Students will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with others to
support a shared purpose or goal and consider different points of view.

70% End of Course (EOC) evaluation -
The majority of the grade for this class will be based of the
EOC evaluation that your supervisor will fill out at the end of
the semester. This will measure your performance for your
internship this semester.
30% Weekly Journals-
At the end of each week you will be required to fill out a
journal on what you did for the internship and what you
learned. Review meetings will be held with student and
course instructor every 6 weeks. Students must schedule
a meeting and discuss their experience so far with the
internship during the review meetings.
Course Policies
Instructor Policies Attendance
You will be responsible and accountable for meeting with the
internship supervisor each week and fulfilling the required
weekly hours you need for the semester. You must meet the
requirements outlined in the handbook or you will not be able
to pass the class.
Class Etiquette and Mindfulness
Having been granted an internship is a great honor and
the student should understand that they represent not only
themselves but Lamar State College Port Arthur. You should
be on your best behavior at all times and strive to make an
impression with your mentor. You never know it could lead to a
permanent or a good reference on your resume and portfolio.
Do your best. I believe in you! If you have any issues with the
internship you must contact the course instructor immediately
to address any issues.
Attendance Policy Attendance

Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.

  2. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission.
